Dr. Baskerville’s extensive record of leadership and public service in Montclair reflects her dedication to community-building and her focused determined work to ensure a safe, financially strong, well-managed, richly diverse, Township in which residents can afford to remain and reside because of the balance of housing options, fair housing enforcement, safe streets, excellent safe schools, programs for our seniors that encourage cross-politicization and provide transportation to foster same.

Simultaneously providing medical, well-being, and healing services to children and families in the Early Childhood Department of the East Orange Public Schools, in Montclair, and other cities in Essex County, Dr. Baskerville has been and continues to be a powerful advocate for holistic health: body, mind, spirit, and environmental health; and education: differentiated, lifelong education for everyone in her service communities.

Dr. Baskerville’s tenure as Montclair’s 4th Ward Town Councilor, was punctuated by unwavering focus and impactful results in addressing the priorities identified by her constituents. Through monthly CalmUnity meetings, she brought diverse residents together, building bridges and fostering unity across wards. Dr. Baskerville impactfully served on every Council committee and commission, consistently delivering affirmative results for the benefit of all Montclairions and visitors to the Township.Dr. Baskerville has fought indefatigably and will continue to fight for “a sense of place” across Montclair and in every Ward and precinct, supporting open green spaces, pedestrian shopping, bicycle paths, well maintained neighborhood recreation, community-service centers and open spaces for neighborhood “grow green” areas across Montclair.

As she looks to the future, Dr. Renee E. Baskerville remains steadfast in her life’s work of building from many diverse people with sometimes divergent interests, one collaborative whose sum is greater than the whole of its parts.

She is committed to working towards a diverse, safe, thriving, sustainable, resilient, and just Township. Driven by a vision of protected, secure, green environments, a thriving local economy, world-class services and schools, she continues to be a beacon of leadership and light in Montclair and beyond.
